Welcome to the Arapahoe Library District, a public library system serving more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado.

The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, an Outreach Service that provides mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.

Arapahoe Library District History

The Arapahoe Library District was established in April 1966 to provide public library service to all residents of Arapahoe County, except those living in the cities of Littleton, Englewood and Aurora. Residents of these cities are served by libraries established prior to 1966 that are funded and maintained by their respective city governments. All Arapahoe County residents, however, are free to use any of the libraries in the county.

Arapahoe Library District Policies

Here you will find information about all of the Arapahoe Library District's policies.

Board of Trustees

A seven-member Board of Trustees governs the Library District, establishes policies and employs a Library Director to carry out the policies and manage the Library District.

Friends Foundation

The Arapahoe Library Friends Foundation raises funds and encourages community support for the Arapahoe Library District.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service through which the Arapahoe Library District borrows materials not available at its libraries from other libraries in the United States or internationally to meet the information needs of its community. In return, the Arapahoe Library District, through Interlibrary Loan, lends materials to other United States and international libraries. This service is available upon request to any Arapahoe Library District patron. The Interlibrary Loan procedures of the Arapahoe Library District are in compliance with the copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code). Library users will be informed of the applicable portions of the law, as required.

The Interlibrary Loan Department is located at our Administrative Offices, 12855 E. Adam Aircraft Circle, Englewood, CO 80112. To contact Interlibrary Loan staff, please call 303-LIBRARY.

Meeting Rooms

Because Arapahoe Library District offers meeting space free of charge for nonprofit organizations, and at a very minimal cost to for-profits or local businesses, we often experience a high volume of meeting room requests. Even with a high volume of requests, it is important to the Library District that individuals who are reserving meeting rooms have a positive and seamless experience doing so. This is why we decided to re-evaluate the meeting room reservation process and look for opportunities to make it more efficient and customer-friendly.

For information on when patrons can reserve meeting rooms on a recurring basis, for meetings scheduled for January through April 2010, please see our Meeting Room Guidelines.
