Family Place Library
The children's room includes a baby and preschool play space in anticipation of Sheridan Library being designated as a Family Place Library. A Family Place designation demonstrates how the library serves as a community hub for healthy child and family development, parent and community involvement and lifelong learning.
The Thersa Dando Meeting Room
Sheridan Library’s Thersa Dando Meeting Room was dedicated in recognition of Arapahoe Library District Friends volunteer Thersa Dando. Dando began volunteering at ALD 2005, and has dedicated more than 10,000 hours of service since then. Under her leadership as the Used Book Store Chair, the Friends have increased the number of book sales from one to four each year and increased the number of book stores from one to five, which resulted in a 40% increase in Friends’ revenues. In her nine years of service, the Friends have raised more than one million dollars.
Sheridan Library was built to feature many environmentally friendly features, including several skylights for natural lighting; community access to public transportation; a high-tech roofing system that helps to regulate internal temperature and weather exposure; “grab bag” recycled carpet flooring; and ideal building orientation to maximize use of natural light.
