8 More Authors Whose Names You Are Probably Mispronouncing

In case you missed it, go check out 7 Authors Whose Names You Are Probably Mispronouncing and thank you everyone who left their comments on that post. This is part two of "I had no idea that's how you pronounced their name" series. Seriously, that's usually what I say after learning the correct pronunciations. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Gillian Flynn

The author of Gone Girl pronounces her name with a hard G like Gill (not Jill).

  2. John Lescroart

Less-kwah is how this thriller novelist of books like Poison pronounces his last name. I've been saying less-cro-art (wrong!) all these years.

  3. Diana Gabaldon

This Outlander author pronounces her last name GAB-uhl-dohn (long O that rhymes with stone).

  4. Debbie Macomber

This best-selling author of the Rose Harbor series says MAY-cumber. Like "cucumber" but with May instead of Q!

  5. Jon Scieszka

This kids author pronounces his name Jon (rhymes with on). Oh yeah, the last name: he says shess-ka (rhymes with fres-ca).

  6. Meg Cabot

Author of The Princess Diaries Meg Cabot's last name rhymes with habit.

  7. David Sedaris

If you didn't already know, Mr. Sedaris has a new book out called Calypso. He also pronounces his last name se-DARE-is.

  8. Neil Gaiman

Neil GAY-mun (rhymes with Cayman) is the author of American Gods. You've probably heard of it.
