App Review: Sizzle and Stew

Do you have two kids and only one tablet? Normally this is a recipe for disaster, but not with this app!

Sizzle and Stew is a cooking app that uses physics to make an open-ended kitchen game. You and your children can explore at their own pace. Chop up vegetables, put water into a pot, play with the stove, sprinkle an abundance of pepper on the dish. It's all up to them!

What makes this game different is the ability to play in one or two player modes. Two player will split the screen down the middle and both of your children can interact with the environment together.

Some fine motor skills are needed to manipulate the objects, so I'd recommend this app for ages 4 and up.

Sizzle and Stew is available on Apple, opens a new window and Amazon, opens a new window devices for $2.99. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.

*Remember, as with all media, it's best if you and your child play together. The American Pediatrics Association recommends that children ages 2 to 5 have a trusted adult to relate what they're seeing to the world around them. They also suggest screen time be limited to one hour a day for this age group. For more information, take a look at their recommendations for media usage, opens a new window.
