Catch Me Reading If You Can

, an early literacy librarian, has a reading game your child will want to be caught playing.

Here's a fun game to try: Give your child a flashlight and tell them they can stay up looking at books.

The rules are:
• The only light allowed is the flashlight.
• They have to stay in bed. If you catch them out of bed, the game is over!
• If you catch them reading, they'll get a treat of your choosing, like a special hug, a snack at the library cafe during your next visit or reading an extra book with you.

On a rainy day, create a special hideaway reading nook. Throw a blanket over a card table or put up a tent in the basement. Fill the hideaway with books and a flashlight and let your reading bandit enjoy some quiet time looking at books while hidden away.
