Shaving Cream on the Wall

Try this outdoor art project that Laurie Anne has been using in her preschools this month!

Did you know that writing needs so much more than fine motor skills? Writing is a whole body activity, and this art idea is a great way to develop it.

1. Cover a wall outside with a large piece of white paper.
2. Add liquid watercolor paints to shaving cream. (My preferred brand of shaving cream to use in craft projects is unscented Barbasol. It's cheap and mixes well with other mediums.)
3. With their hands, have your child spread the shaving cream paint on the paper. Toddlers may like having a pompom or a brush to make it easier on their little hands.
4. Add to this activity by placing painter's or washi tape on the large paper beforehand in different patterns or letters. When your children are done painting, peel the tape off and wonder at the designs.

If you did this activity and want to share your ideas, comment here. I'd love to hear what you did to make it your own.
