Storytime Registration FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions When Registering for Storytime

I'm not comfortable registering online. Do you have other registration options? Of course! Please call us at 303-LIBRARY (303-542-7279) or ask a staff member. We'd love to help you!

Who needs to be registered? For baby, toddler and special programs, only children in the age group of the program need to be registered. Siblings are welcome to attend without registration. Family storytimes, though, are all ages, so please register every child attending.

Should I register in advance? In certain situations we can accommodate walk-ins, but not always. Our family drop-in storytimes at Smoky Hill Library are perfect for those with a busy schedule, as registration isn't necessary.

Why does Arapahoe Libraries limit storytime attendance? Everyone loves storytime, there's no debate about that! We cap attendance for a variety of reasons. Fire code is a big one, but we also limit to maintain the safety of the room, to keep the program developmentally appropriate for the age group or because of the availability of props and manipulatives.

Why should I log out of my library card account to register? Our storytime specialists and librarians like to make each child feel special when entering storytime. We create nametags for each child registered ahead of time.

Oh no! I was logged into my account when I registered! It's okay! Let us know before storytime and we'll make a nametag for your child.

What happens if there's no room in storytime? We will seat registered attendees first. If not all registered attendees have arrived, storytime specialists may add you to a waiting list. If we're not able to accommodate extra attendees, we will be happy to sign up your family for another available storytime.

What if I can't attend? Parenting is unpredictable, so we know you may not be able to join us. Please use the confirmation email to cancel and open the spot for another family. You may also call us at 303-LIBRARY (303-542-7279) to cancel your registration and/or register for another event.
