Learning is a Picnic

Anytime is the perfect time for a picnic!

Plan out a picnic with your child. What kind of food could you bring with you?

Find pictures of picnic food in magazines and newspaper ads and cut them out, pasting them to paper to make a list. Write the name of the item next to the picture.

Use what you have in your fridge to have a picnic, even if it's on your living room floor.

Talking about what types of food to bring will help your child build vocabulary, while making them into a list will call attention to the fact that words on paper mean something. And lastly, children learn best by doing, especially with their favorite person: you!
