Check out These Amazing Library Resources

After the idyllic, joyful days of summer, little can be more tempting than curling up with a good book or movie. As we wrap up our fall reading program for adults, this is the perfect time to brush up on all the ways Arapahoe Libraries offers free access to books and movies. While your local library staff are always delighted to see you, many of these options don’t even require leaving the comfort of your home.

Physical items

If you come into the library, you’ll be able to check out up to 100 print and large print books, magazines, Blu-Rays and DVDs, playaways (mp3 player audiobooks) and more. Check out the new and Express section at your favorite branch to find something hot off the presses, or place a hold on a book club kit so you and nine of your friends can read something together.

eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines from Libby

If digital reading is more your style, make sure you’re using Libby, by OverDrive. Arapahoe Libraries’ Libby collection has thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines. You can read and listen right from the app, and many of the eBooks are also available to send to kindle apps and devices.

Free streaming with hoopla and Kanopy

You won’t have to get on the holds list if you find something you like on hoopla digital. hoopla offers a wide selection of eBooks and digital audiobooks including more niche and academic topics than the physical and Libby collections, and they also offer movies and music. Each library card holder receives monthly checkout credits that renew on the first. hoopla also offers a smart TV app.

Are you looking for movies and TV shows that you can stream to your personal device or smart TV? Look no further than Kanopy. Much like hoopla, each card holder gets a monthly set of credits to use on classic, independent and foreign films and TV series as well as a few popular titles.

Ready to check out?

If you’re ready to get reading and watching, make sure you have your library card and don’t hesitate to come into a library or Ask a Librarian for help accessing these resources or to learn more. Happy fall reading!
