Gordon Lightfoot was a legendary Canadian singer-songwriter who passed away on May 1, 2023. Born November 17, 1938, in Orillia, Ontario, Lightfoot began his music career in the early 1960s, performing at coffeehouses in Toronto's Yorkville neighborhood. Lightfoot's folk-inspired songs, such as "Early Morning Rain" and "If You Could Read My Mind," became popular hits in the 1970s and helped establish him as one of Canada's most successful musicians. He had received numerous accolades throughout his career, including multiple Juno Awards and induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Lightfoot continued to perform and record music, with his most recent album, "Solo," released in 2020. Bob Dylan, among many, was a long-time Lightfoot fan.
