Now that it’s summer most of us will be traveling, by road or by air, spending time with our hobbies or just hanging out at home bored. It is the perfect time to finally get into or start listening to a new podcast. With series lengths varying from 7 to 220 episodes, you're guaranteed to find a story you'll love.

From one teen to another, these are my top ten fiction podcasts and their genres.

Heroics (Comedy and Action) 

Heroics is a podcast about a group of superheroes who are not particularly good at their jobs. Instead, they want to rebrand themselves into supervillains because they think it will be more lucrative. They all go behind each other's back to switch sides.

The Deca Tapes (Murder Mystery) 

Ten former criminals who have had their memory wiped, are locked in a spaceship together heading to a plant where they’ll work off their crimes. While on the ship, each person has a specific job: the doctor, the cook, the cleaner, the mystery function, the entertainer and so on. One member is murdered and it’s up to the people onboard to figure out who among them is the killer. Eight recordings have been released by the company that runs the ship, the Deca company.

Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later (Historical Drama and Comedy) 

Cry Havoc! is set in Ancient Rome two years after the assassination of Julius Caesar. Everyone who was involved in the assassination has died in battle and the empire has no one to lead. That is, until Cleopatra comes for an extended visit to the empire, looking for an alliance by any means necessary.

Witherburn After School News (Mystery)

A gossip radio-show run by a teenage girl in a small southern town. In her attempt to cover the latest scoop, she becomes entangled in a mystery.

Gray Matter: An Acid Horror Anthology Podcast (Horror and Sci-Fi)

Gray Matter is a horror podcast about a video rental store. The store sells VHS tapes made from people's brain matter, depicting people's scariest memories. It’s a collection of short, standalone stories by different authors and actors.

The Milkman of St. Gaff's (Fantasy, Comedy and Horror)

Howie is a man who lies and enlists for the Milkmen of St. Gaff's to avoid joining to military. He falls in love with the island and a very pretty girl. He soon finds out that the Milkmen have a secret purpose and now Howie is involved.

Mabel (Mystery and Horror)

Anna is the caretaker to an elderly woman. When Anna tries to get in contact with her charge's granddaughter Mabel, she ends up getting into a lot more then she expects. At first Anna hates Mabel for abandoning her grandmother in her time of need but she quickly changes her mind when she finally gets to meet Mabel.

The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality (Sci-Fi and Fantasy)

A trip to the Mistholme Museum told through an audio guide, but this isn’t a normal museum, no this museum houses strange and supernatural items, some that can’t be in the presents of the written work and some that have caused the death of others.

Welcome to Night Vale & Good Morning Night Vale (Comedy, Horror and Fantasy)

Cecil is a radio host that reads you (the listener) the news. Night Vale is a strange town filled with bazaar events and attitudes, but the weirdest part is that the town's inhabitants all find it to be perfectly normal.
Welcome to Night Vale has 208 episodes and the spin-off show Good Morning Night Vale with a 167 episodes and multiple bonus episodes. Each episode is approximately 25-30 minutes long and features music by independent creators.

Welcome to Night Vale

The Magnus Archives & The Magnus Protocol (Horror)

Jonathon Sims is the head archivist of the London location of the Magnus Archives. Along with his team, Sims investigates statements about the supernatural. The Archives has 200 episodes, with each episode running about 15-25 minutes.

The Magnus Protocol, which has similar premise with different characters, is a spin-off show set in the same world as the original but can be listened to without listening to the Magnus Archives. The Protocol has 20 episodes and just finished its first season. Each episode is 15-25 minutes.
