What is Bard?
-
Bard is Google’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) powered chatbot.
GPT (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer)
- Generates human-like texts based on a given text-based input. A user submits information, and the transformer provides coherent paragraph-based information that is extracted from publicly available datasets.
Google rolled Bard out to the public on March 22, 2023.
Anyone with a Google account can join the waitlist to get access. A major difference about Bard is that it uses Google's LaMDA model, opens a new window rather than OpenAI. "The biggest hurdle right now is that Bard will only respond to certain prompts," reports Jon Martindale from Digital Trends. Bard's launch has also been sprinkled with controversy, opens a new window about the accuracy of responses as well as the LaMDA model. According to Google, Bard is "an experiment based on this technology that lets you collaborate with generative AI, opens a new window," so the responses may need a closer inspection than other GPT options. Users also have the option to change from Bard directly to a Google search, opens a new window which could prove useful.
As of this blog post we are on the waitlist. Since we couldn't ask Bard what it is, we asked ChatGPT and BingGT to shed some light on the topic.
Here's BingGPT's response about Bard.
Bard is a new chatbot tool launched by Google that is built on deep learning algorithms called ‘large language models’, in this case one called LaMDA. It is designed to simulate conversations with a human and uses a combination of natural language processing and machine learning, to provide realistic, and helpful responses to questions you might ask it. It is Google’s answer to ChatGPT.
Here's ChatGPT's response about Bard.
Google Bard is a text-generating AI model developed by Google in 2021. It is a language model that uses machine learning algorithms to generate coherent and original poetry, given a few lines of input. Google Bard is based on the same technology as GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3), a powerful AI language model developed by OpenAI.
Google Bard was developed as part of Google's research into the use of AI in creative applications, such as music, art, and literature. It was trained on a large corpus of poetry from different genres and time periods, and it is capable of generating poetry that mimics the style and themes of its training data.
Users can interact with Google Bard by providing a few lines of input or a prompt, and the AI model will generate a new poem based on that input. The generated poems can vary in length and quality, but they often demonstrate a level of creativity and originality that was previously only possible for human poets.
