Arapahoe Libraries welcomes and encourages children of all ages to use the materials and services of the libraries. The libraries are public facilities that are open to everyone. As libraries are essential to the lives of children, we strive to provide useful, safe and inviting spaces for youth in each of our facilities.
To further ensure their safety and well-being, children under the age of eight must be accompanied by parents or caregivers during library visits.
Children aged eight and older are permitted to use the library independently, without a parent or caregiver on the premises. Children and teenagers of all ages are expected to adhere to the Patron Code of Conduct.
At all times, parents or caregivers, whether present with their children or not, are responsible for their children’s behavior and safety. Neither the library nor its staff members act in loco parentis (in place of parents).
If a child visiting the library independently appears to be lost, is being disruptive, or if in the judgment of staff, their safety is jeopardized, staff will attempt to locate the parent or caregiver. If the parent or caregiver cannot be located, the child may be placed in the care of the local law enforcement agency.
The library and its staff members will not under any circumstances be responsible for determining whether an apparent caregiver, custodian or parent is a legally authorized caregiver, custodian or custodial parent of the child.

LOS NIÑOS COMO VISITANTES INDEPENDIENTES
Arapahoe Libraries da la bienvenida y alienta a los niños de todas las edades a utilizar los materiales y servicios de las bibliotecas. Las bibliotecas son instituciones públicas abiertas a todos. Dado que las bibliotecas son esenciales para la vida de los niños, nos esforzamos por brindar espacios útiles, seguros y acogedores para los jóvenes en cada una de nuestras instalaciones.
Para garantizar aún más su seguridad y bienestar, los niños menores de ocho años deben estar acompañados por sus padres o cuidadores durante las visitas a la biblioteca.
Los niños de ocho años en adelante pueden usar la biblioteca de forma independiente, sin un padre o cuidador en las instalaciones. Se espera que los niños y adolescentes de todas las edades se adhieran al Código de Conducta del Patrono.
En todo momento, los padres o cuidadores estén o no presentes con sus hijos, son responsables del comportamiento y la seguridad de sus hijos. Ni la biblioteca ni los miembros de su personal actuarán In loco parentis (en lugar de los padres).
Si un niño que visita la biblioteca de forma independiente parece estar perdido, está causando problemas o si, a juicio del personal, su seguridad está en peligro, el personal intentará localizar al padre o cuidador. Si no se puede ubicar al padre o cuidador, el niño puede ser puesto al cuidado de la agencia local de aplicación de la ley.
La biblioteca y los miembros de su personal no serán responsables en ninguna circunstancia de determinar si un aparente cuidador, custodio o padre es un cuidador, custodio o padre custodio legalmente autorizado del niño.

Библиотеки Арапахо приветствуют и поощряют детей всех возрастов к использованию материалов и услуг библиотек. Библиотеки являются общественными учреждениями, открытыми для всех. Поскольку библиотеки необходимы для жизни детей, мы стремимся предоставить молодежи полезные, безопасные и уютные места в каждом нашем учреждении.
Детей в возрасте до восьми лет должны сопровождать родители или опекуны во время посещения библиотеки, чтобы обеспечить их безопасность и благополучие.
Детям в возрасте восьми лет и старше разрешается пользоваться библиотекой самостоятельно, без присутствия родителей или опекунов. Дети и подростки всех возрастов должны соблюдать нормы поведения посетителя.
Родители или опекуны, независимо от того, присутствуют они со своими детьми или нет, всегда несут ответственность за поведение и безопасность своих детей. Ни библиотека, ни ее сотрудники не действуют in loco parentis (заменяя родителей).
Если ребенок, самостоятельно посещающий библиотеку, кажется потерянным, нарушает порядок или если, по мнению персонала, его безопасность находится под угрозой, персонал попытается найти родителя или опекуна. Если родителя или опекуна невозможно найти, ребенок может быть передан на попечение местных правоохранительных органов.
Библиотека и ее сотрудники ни при каких обстоятельствах не несут ответственности за определение того, является ли предполагаемый опекун, попечитель или родитель законным опекуном, попечителем или родителем-опекуном ребенка.
