The Arapahoe Library District (“District”) provides a “Public Comment” period on its agenda during public meetings of the Board of Trustees (“Board”) to facilitate public input regarding public business. To ensure fairness for all people who wish to make comments to the Board during public meetings and to ensure the timely and orderly discussion of District business, the Board desires to adopt a policy governing the public comment period.

  1. Any person wishing to speak must sign their name and address on the sign-in sheet and state their name and address before providing comment.
  2. Any person wishing to speak may take up to three minutes to make comments. (This time constraint may be modified by the Board President to be less than three minutes if there are several persons wishing to speak.)
  3. The Board will take up to 30 minutes for public comment at the beginning of the meeting.
  4. Individuals who request to speak but cannot due to time constraints will be carried to the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
  5. Speakers may not give their time to another person, allowing them to exceed the 3-minute time limit.
  6. The Board acts as a body. Individual Trustees have no power or authority to act on behalf of the District. Speakers must address the entire Board, not an individual board member.
  7. The Board will not engage in dialogue during public comment, but they may direct District staff to respond to speakers at a later time.
  8. Speakers must conduct themselves in a civil and respectful manner. Foul language, intimidation, and threats of violence are prohibited.
  9. Failure to abide by the rules of public comment may result in removal from the meeting.

Directrices para presentaciones públicas y comentarios:

  3. На общественное обсуждение отводится до 10 минут в начале собрания. Если будет больше комментариев, мы предоставим дополнительное время в конце встречи еще на 30 минут.
  4. Попечители не смогут вступить с вами в диалог, но они позаботятся о том, чтобы с вами связались позже, чтобы ответить на любые ваши вопросы.
