Hope Booth Installation at Sheridan Library

Connecting users with local mental health resources

Mental health challenges directly impact one in five adults in the U.S. Without community connections and support, people experiencing mental illness and loneliness may feel isolated, powerless or hopeless. Hope Booth, opens a new window aims to address these concerns in a way that offers encouragement and honors the dignity of people seeking help.

Arapahoe Libraries is partnering with Hope Booth to provide mental health resources by installing a free-standing Hope Booth outside the Sheridan library, near the existing hold lockers. The Hope Booth will be accessible at all hours, not just when the library is open.

The Hope Booth is a reimagined telephone booth that features short, interactive, immersive experiences in either English or Spanish to encourage users, guide them through breathing exercises and connect them with local resources within a five-mile radius. Resources may include therapy, homeless shelters, food banks, financial assistance and more. Targeted sound directional engineering is used to create an immersive experience without the need for headphones when using the Hope Booth.

Arapahoe Libraries also provides one-on-one appointments with community resource specialists. These specialists can help guide patrons in connecting with public, private and government organizations and resources that meet their unique needs, and can help with many topics; but do not offer individual case management or counseling.
