What is Begin with Books?

Introduce children to the joy of reading! Begin with Books is a special storytime designed for childcare providers and the young children in their care. Once a month, a library volunteer will present a storytime at your home, bringing along picture books, songs and fun activities.

Who is it for?

Begin with Books serves in-home childcare providers as well as family, friends or neighbors who provide regular childcare for little ones ages birth to 5 years old. The program is available to all providers living within the boundaries of Arapahoe Libraries, opens a new window.

What can you expect at a Begin with Books visit?

A volunteer provides storytimes, puppets, books, songs and finger rhymes during a visit to your in-home daycare.

What should I know?

In addition to presenting storytime, volunteers leave providers with a collection of books for children to enjoy until the next visit.

Why are storytimes important?

Reading to young children every day is one of the best ways to help them get ready to read and sets the stage for lifelong learning. Storytimes at home are just one way to instill a love of reading.
