Spring Has Sprung!

Spring is in the air! Officially, the spring season begins on March 20. Here in Colorado, however, we know we could continue to see winter and snow for several weeks – with days of sunshine and 60-degree temperatures in between.

The first day of spring is also the vernal equinox. This means there are roughly an equal number of daylight and darkness hours in the day – around 12 of each! Almanac.com features a great article about the Spring Equinox, opens a new window.

One way we mark the beginning of spring is with Daylight Saving Time. On March 12 we will turn our clocks forward one hour in order to maximize how much natural light we have throughout our day. To learn more, check out this Daylight Saving Time article, opens a new window from Brittanica Kids.
