Textile Stations


Looking to start a sewing project, add a specialized embroidered touch or discover a creative craft hobby? Reserve a Textile Station, opens a new window at the Makerspace!

Each of these stations—sewing machine, embroidery machine and serger—are available for your crafting needs. The necessary tools and limited consumables to start and complete any sewing project will be provided for you. Prior knowledge and experience with the equipment at each station is recommended.

Sewing Machine Station

A sewing machine is mainly used to join pieces of fabric together to create a functional piece of clothing or product. The Singer Stylist is great for beginners and experts alike and is best used with lightweight to midweight fabrics.



Embroidery Machine Station

The embroidery machine is used to create simple to intricate patterns on fabric. Embroidery can add richness, texture, color and dimension to any textile project or garment.



Serger Station

A serger is a great tool for garment construction. Typically, sergers use four threads to create overlock, flatlock, rolled edges and rolled hemstitches. These stitches are designed to achieve that professional, clean-finished seam and hemming on all sorts of fabric.
