Most of us have seen or heard of The Little Mermaid, a story about Ariel the mermaid who longs to leave the sea and find out about the world.
The Little Mermaid was first published by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in 1837, nearly 150 years ago. Andersen's version of the story is a much darker and different version than what you may know of this story from the big screen. For most of us, the 1989 Disney animated version of this story is what comes to mind when people talk about The Little Mermaid.
Now they are remaking the classic cartoon movie into a live-action film, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. This movie comes out in theaters on May 26 and is rated PG.
