Momotaro Comes to Life at Koelbel Library

Explore the enchanting history and folklore of Japan with this interactive exhibit and performances


Koelbel Library is hosting a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience that celebrates the history and mythology of Japan's fabled folk hero Momotaro. Momotaro is a popular Japanese character, born from a peach and destined to become a hero. His story has been retold in books, movies and countless cultural performances.

This interactive exhibit will be open to the public November 1-19. Visitors are encouraged to explore the space and artifacts at their own pace or plan an evening at the library by reserving a spot for one of the limited live performances and visiting the Koelbel Cafe for a white chocolate Peach Dream latte, steamer or frost.

The Japanese Arts Network (JA-NE), opens a new window, a national resource for artistic collaboration and connection, was selected in 2023 to participate in Spark Centennial, opens a new window, a program designed to develop a sense of community through placemaking installations, unique customer experiences and innovative projects.
