Public Statement: Supporting Our Commitment to Democracy

Dear Arapahoe Libraries community,

We are heartbroken and devastated by the situation that erupted on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC. While peaceful protest has been part of our great nation's fabric, the behavior at the protests yesterday is not a reflection of our democratic values. As a public library, part of our mission is upholding the values of democracy via education and access to information. We believe that the work we do every day is more important than ever. This is not a reflection of any political value or affiliation but a statement in support of our democratic values, which applies to all of us, regardless of political beliefs.

As we are all struggling to make sense of what is happening in our nation right now, on top of the stress we are already experiencing with the pandemic, we want to provide mental health resources to help you all navigate through this extremely difficult time:
