VIRTUAL LIVING ROOM
YOU ARE INVITED
Arapahoe Libraries invites you to spend time with our Guests in a virtual space where real conversations take place. Guests are experts in a topic or are passionate about a subject, from podcasts to the great outdoors, mindfulness to crafting. Schedule a time to talk, to explore and learn something new.
HOW IT WORKS
Click on a Guest's picture to learn more about them and what they'd like to talk about. See someone you'd like to talk with in a virtual living room? Click on a day on their calendar to schedule a thirty-minute virtual appointment.
To ensure a great conversation, please review these guidelines before booking your appointment.
Patrons and guests should feel respected, so please be thoughtful with your words and questions.
To ensure the comfort of both participants, a conversation may be stopped if either the patron or guest feels they aren’t being treated with respect.
The set time for each conversation is thirty minutes.
Please do not record, videotape, or take pictures of the guest.
Guests will not give out personal contact information. If you'd like more time with a guest, please schedule this through the Virtual Living Room.
MEET OUR GUESTS

HEY THERE, I'M HEIDI!
I love being creative, trying out new ideas, meeting people and bringing joy to library events for children and families. My interests (one might say "expertise") are in kid-friendly crafts, kitchen creations and gardening. I also love exploring the Denver area for free and cheap family-friendly activities. Let me help you make your family time fun!
Heidi is an events specialist who collaborates on programs for all ages. She has a B.A. in Community Studies and Development and is nearing completion of her Masters in Library Science. Her biggest inspiration comes from her two children who keep her on her toes with their love of kitchen science experiments and joy for making beautiful messes.
HI, I'M JENN!
As a working mom who’s short on time, listening to podcasts is a great way for me to keep learning because podcasts make accessing information simple. If I have a question or I need to Google something, I always hope to find a podcast related to the topic. Many of my conversations with my best friend start with, "I heard this on a podcast..." So let's talk podcasts over a virtual cup of coffee.
Since childhood, Jenn has loved books and learning. She always wanted to work in a library, but spent 16 years as a massage therapist. After she retired from that career, she was left wondering what to do with her time. She was thrilled to find a bustling café inside Smoky Hill Library, and applied for a job as a barista.
HEY, I'M JILL!
Mindfulness meditation has been instrumental and transformative in supporting my intentions for well-being and peace in meeting all aspects of life. I'm passionate about supporting others in their curiosity—and skepticism—of meditation practice. I co-founded Upstream Mindfulness, a professional wellness consultancy specializing in mindfulness-based training that promote resilience, creativity, health and happiness. How can I help you find peace and well-being in your life?
Jill is a qualified teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the recognized gold standard of mindfulness meditation training programs developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMASS Medical School. She has practiced some form of meditation for over 30 years, and Ashtanga yoga since 2005. Jill works at Smoky Hill Library and has led guided meditation practices for Arapahoe Libraries staff and other libraries since 2011.
HEY, I'M CHUCK!
I enjoy assisting with technology needs, answering those odd but useful questions that come up in daily life (what's riboflavin?) and helping out with the library’s LGBT+ Movie Night. When I'm not at work, you’ll find me outside. I have several favorites places off the beaten path to hike and camp that I’d love to share. After a day outside, it's time for a good movie. Let’s discuss your favorite foreign films (Korean and Japanese movies are having their moment, finally!), indie comedy or the merits of political dramas.
HI, I'M SUMMER!
By day I serve as a career services librarian for Arapahoe Libraries, but in my spare time I turn my attention to genre fiction writing. Have you started a fiction piece yourself? Would you like to talk to someone about pacing, plotting or character development? I am delighted to share my experience establishing a daily writing habit or to discuss favorite online writing classes and events.
HI, I'M KATIE!
Hi, I'm Katie. I thrive when I'm being creative, whether it’s upcycling materials for craft projects or spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking. Not to mention sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and cross-stitching. Name a craft and I've either dabbled in it or I can't wait to learn more about it.
HI, I'M ANNA!
I’m passionate about lifelong learning. In my free time you'll find me listening to audiobooks and catching up on documentaries and docudramas. But my interests don't stop there. Pick my brain and ask me a question about science, travel, mythology and folktalkes, art, music, business, health, nature, design, technology, archetypes, humor, microhistories and biographies.
Anna is an information services librarian who loves a good question and is passionate about freedom of information and access to technology. She loves sharing knowledge from the varied databases and digital materials found at Arapahoe Libraries.
HI, I'M PAMELA!
You can find me reading, researching and book-talking all the great books out there that are perfect for book clubs. Are you looking for your next book club read? Has conversation fizzled out? Want to hear about hidden book club gems? Are you interested in setting up a book club but aren’t sure where to start? Let’s talk!
As a librarian with Arapahoe Libraries, Pamela focuses on services for adult patrons and manages over a dozen book clubs. She also does book talk programs for neighborhood book clubs and other groups.
