Celebrate poetry and rhymes with the little poets in your life!
When children and babies hear rhymes, they have the opportunity to hear the smaller, individual sounds that make up words.
Read or make up a rhyming poem with your child. Emphasize the rhymes and slow them down, allowing your child to hear which sounds make the words rhyme. For example: the boy had a c-AT who liked to wear a h-AT.
With your child, write a poem together. Get as silly or as serious as your child wants!
