Art Gallery Exhibitions: February 2025

February 1-28, 2025

Arapahoe Libraries is proud to host art exhibits each month at Eloise May, Koelbel and Smoky Hill libraries. Library galleries offer the community a place to view a variety of art at no cost while also providing visibility to local artists. A volunteer art selection committee selects exhibits based on artistic quality, variety of exhibits and the suitability of format for each exhibit space.

Madison N’Cole is an artist from “a little bit of everywhere,” as she likes to say, with roots in Texas, D.C., and Colorado. She began creating pop art portraits in high school and fell in love with graphic design, which led her to earn a bachelor's degree in media production and leadership at MSU Denver. In her free time, Madison enjoys journaling, dining at The Cheesecake Factory, and shopping.

After living in Colorado for 10 years, Madison N’Cole has embraced the vibrant spirit of the colorful state. Through her art, she presents her own interpretation of Colorado’s beauty, showcasing its striking colors in a unique and personal way.

What is your favorite piece in the show and why?
My favorite piece in the show is “Diamonds and Pearls” because every time I look at it, I think of luxury and maximalism, which are my favorite forms of art.

What motivates you to create?
What motivates me to create in six words: music, Netflix, sunlight, color, and creative liberty.
Who are your biggest artist influences? My uncle, Sergio Dior, and Takashi Murakami.

What message do you want your art to convey to viewers?
More than a message, I want people to feel good when they view my art!

Carl Debose

My work is rooted in the tension and harmony of duality born from my experience as a biracial individual and my ongoing struggle with mental health. Through calligraphy, I explore the complexities of identity, belonging, and emotional resilience, using the flowing forms of letters and abstract compositions to tell stories that often go unspoken.

I use a variety of mediums from calligraphy pens to paint brush and spray paint to create my art.

Jenn LaRue

I began my painting journey about three yrs ago as part of art therapy. I very quickly learned that putting paint to canvas was my peaceful, calming, happy place. Friends, family, and co-workers who saw my continuing growth and potential as a budding artist kept encouraging me to 'get my stuff out there'. So here I am, getting out of my comfort zone to attempt to do just that.

As I started painting, I realized that the positive effects I was experiencing was something I wanted to share with other people. My sincere hope is that my paintings elicit positive and/or reflective feelings in the observer.
