Arapahoe Libraries is proud to host art exhibits each month at Eloise May, Koelbel and Smoky Hill libraries. Library galleries offer the community a place to view a variety of art at no cost while also providing visibility to local artists. A volunteer art selection committee selects exhibits based on artistic quality, variety of exhibits and the suitability of format for each exhibit space.

I am a travel, documentary and portrait photographer. I travel extensively in pursuit of images that reflect local cultures and people. Philosophically, I'm a humanist. I want to understand the experiences, background and motivations that make each person unique, along with the common qualities that connect us all as members of humankind. And I want to express that perspective in my portraits. As you view these photographs, I'm hoping you will ask, "Who is this person? What do we have in common? And how do we differ?" While my portraits depict differences in appearance, dress, culture, faith and way of life, I hope you'll also find they simultaneously reveal that we human beings are more alike than we are different.

As a photographer working with 35mm film, I want to capture the unaltered beauty that surrounds us. My work is a celebration of life, color, and abstraction, embracing the natural world in its most authentic form. I approach each scene with an open mind, allowing the moment to unfold without forcing or manipulating the environment. I work within those constraints, and it directs me,
I am inspired by the photographers who came before me and look to their work as guidance of what is possible creatively. I find the vibrant community in Denver so motivating and supportive. I strive to create work that invites the viewer to experience a sense of joy and pleasure—an appreciation for the fleeting yet profound moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Through my pictures, I hope to give a better perspective into the way I see things: full of color, subtle abstraction, and the quiet beauty that exists in our lives.
