Arapahoe Libraries partners with local museums and organizations to offer passes through the Exploration Pass program. This incredible community resource grants free admission into one of many different attractions in the Denver area, including the Botanic Gardens, Butterfly Pavilion and Museo de las Américas!
Reserving a pass is simple: Visit the Exploration Pass tickets page to view participating locations and browse available dates. Once you choose a date, you will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN to make a reservation.
Passes may be reserved up to 30 days in advance and library cardholders are permitted to make two reservations per month. Pass details vary by location and are displayed under the terms and conditions when making a reservation.
In 2025, four new institutions joined the Arapahoe Libraries Exploration Pass program.
The American Museum of Western Art, opens a new window
The American Museum of Western Art (AMWA) features a large collection of art that tells the story of the American West through different mediums; this collection is part history center and part art museum.
AMWA is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Last entry is at 4 pm. Children under 8 years of age are not permitted in the museum. This pass is good for Self-Guided Tour admission only.
Black American West Museum and Heritage Center, opens a new window
The Black American West Museum and Heritage Center is famous for telling the stories of the Black cowboys, homesteaders, miners and other professionals who helped grow the American West.
This museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged – see pass details for more information.
History Colorado Center, opens a new window
History Colorado Center’s artifacts, stories and art are designed to be interactive and engaging for multi-generational audiences. The museum tells the story of Colorado and the American West.
The Exploration Pass provides 1 free Adult General Admission and $5 off General Admission for up to 3 additional adults. Kids 18 and under are always free. Additionally, this admission is not valid for school or group visits, surcharged exhibits or events. This resource is available once every 30 days per patron.
Center for Colorado Women's History, opens a new window
As a part of History Colorado, the Center for Colorado Women’s History focuses on the lives and impact of the women who played important roles in Colorado history in a historic house in downtown Denver.
The Exploration Pass covers general admission, and guests have the option to pay $3 at the door for a docent-led tour.
