Sheridan Library’s Expanded Outdoor Space

Sheridan Library is building an inclusive and accessible outdoor space.

Work has begun to create a fun and sensory-friendly outdoor space.

It will feature inviting landscaping, an area for seating and climbing, as well as oversized musical instruments for children of all ages. Sheridan Library has undergone a few renovations in the past including an updated teen space and adding shelves to improve the browsing experience. Sheridan will now be expanding its outdoor space to create a welcoming, inclusive and accessible environment for users of all ages.

What can you do in the outdoor space?

  • Snap a picture on our cheerful, mosaic "selfie couch."
  • Easily go to and from the new teen area.
  • Climb the new playground equipment, designed for our little library patrons.
  • Lounge on some whimsical curvy benches.
  • Soak up the sun or enjoy the shade in our new seating areas.
  • Admire our five new trees and learn about the importance of urban tree canopies, opens a new window.

When will this project start?

The trees have already been planted, with the rest of the installation beginning in early June.

Will the library be closed during renovations?

Since all the changes are happening outdoors, we don't anticipate needing to close the library at this time.

Thank you!

We would like to thank The Friends of Arapahoe Libraries for their generous grant for the outdoor features and equipment. We would also like to thank the City of Sheridan for trees provided by the 2023 Tree Canopy Program, opens a new window.
