Book Lovers Day

Book Lovers Day is August 9

Book Lovers Day is an unofficial holiday where bibliophiles around the country celebrate their love of books. The holiday's origin is unknown but Google reports that searches for this holiday first started in 2004. But it wasn't until 2012 that Book Lovers Day was officially announced as August 9.

How Can You Celebrate Book Lovers Day?

  1. Read a book - This may seem obvious but the best way to celebrate books is by reading one. To be clear, reading includes listening to an audiobook, reading a graphic novel, perusing a magazine or newspaper or scrolling through an eBook.
  2. Visit your local library - Come visit Arapahoe Libraries at one of our many locations. See our full list of locations and hours.
  3. Visit an independent bookstore - Colorado is lucky enough to have a plethora of local, indie bookstores where you can simultaneously pick up a new book and support a local business.
  4. Share a book with someone - Recommend your favorite book to a friend or family member. There's nothing quite like sharing your favorite story with someone.
  5. Write a review - You can write a review on Goodreads, Amazon or even through your library account to let others know what you enjoyed about your latest read.
  6. Join a book club - Arapahoe Libraries has so many book clubs that you can join to find readers who enjoy the same genres that you do.
