Celebrate Black History Month With Books for Kids

Every February, we celebrate the history, culture, traditions and contributions made to our nation by Black Americans. Black History Month dates back to 1926 when Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson established a week-long celebration to coincide with the birthdays of the important abolitionists, Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln.

Join us for the Kusogea Nobi Drum Ensemble to learn about the rich history and cultural significance of drums and play a traditional rhythm from West Africa.

Check out these resources and books to learn about and celebrate Black voices and history.  Get ready to curl up with a new book and celebrate Black History Month.
