    Thank you for considering a donation to Arapahoe Libraries!

    We will accept the following items:

    • Gently used books of all sorts—hardback fiction and nonfiction, paperbacks in good condition and children’s books
    • DVDs and CDs
    • Audiobooks
    • Textbooks without writing or highlighting

    We will not accept:

    • Readers' Digest Condensed Books
    • Encyclopedias
    • Reference books (business books, travel books, medical books, etc.) over three years old
    • Any items previously owned by other libraries
    • Cassette tapes and vinyl records
    • VHS tapes
    • Empty cases for CDs, DVDs, etc.
    • Magazines
    • Technology or electronics
    • Furniture (CD racks, book cases, etc.)

    Book and media donations are accepted at Koelbel, Smoky Hill, Castlewood and Eloise May Libraries Monday–Friday from 9 am–5 pm.

    If a library cannot accommodate your donation due to space limitations, they will recommend another Arapahoe Libraries location to take your donation.

    For donations of ten boxes or more, please fill out this form to request a pick up inside Arapahoe County or call 303-542-7279 (303-LIBRARY) for assistance.

    Storage limitations at Sheridan, Kelver and Davies Libraries make it hard for us to receive donations at these locations.

    Donations should be boxed, not bagged, when possible. Bags may rip and damage books, or worse, hurt a volunteer.

    We cannot accept the following items:

    • Readers' Digest Condensed Books
    • Encyclopedias
    • Reference books (travel books, medical books, etc.) over 3 years old
    • Any items previously owned by other libraries
    • Cassette tapes
    • VHS tapes
    • Empty cases for CDs, DVDs, etc.
    • Magazines
    • Furniture (CD racks, book cases, etc.)

    You can fill out this form to request a pick up for a donation of 10 or more boxes of books inside Arapahoe County

    *Please note, a large donation is considered 10 boxes or more.

    Yes! Library staff will sign and date a receipt. You, however, must determine the value of the donation.

    We do not generally add donated items to the circulating collection due to the high cost of having staff evaluate, process and catalog donated materials. Patrons and authors can suggest titles to be purchased for the collection and suggestions are evaluated according to the same selection criteria as purchased material. Published authors wishing to donate their books, please read our library purchasing guidelines.

    The Friends of Arapahoe Libraries host used book sales annually, each with a huge selection of gently used books and media at bargain prices.
