Beloved author and illustrator Eric Carle passed away on May 23, 2021, just shy of what would have been his 92nd birthday on June 25.
He will be missed, but his work will live on! Our staff shared their favorite Eric Carle books. What's yours?
ArapahoeMollie: I love The Very Hungry Caterpillar not only because it's a childhood favorite, but because it reminds us that we are all beautiful inside.
ArapahoeAlice: My daughter used to act out the scenes in The Very Hungry Caterpillar when she was about 3. She'd wrap up in her baby blanket when she was in the cocoon. We had to read every word in the book, including the dedication "To My Sister Krista." Very fond memories of that book.

ArapahoeElizabethP: I love how this is such a soothing book, showing the intimate love between a father and daughter.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
ArapahoeSusanJ: Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do you See? was my boys' favorite. If I had a dollar for every Eric Carle book I have read to my children I could retire to the beach!
ArapahoeTina: I can't count the number of times I read this to my kids when they were small. So sad those days have passed, but I still love this book!
