LGBTQ+ Older Adult Resources

Did you know that among people over 50 years of age in the U.S., over 2.7 millionopens a new window of them identify as LGBTQ+? As the country’s population ages, there is an increasing need for health care, social support and access to aging-related legal resources.

This is especially true for LGBTQ+ communities. People who identify as LGBTQ+ in Colorado opens a new windowreport more mental and physical health issues, increased health-risk behaviors and higher rates of social isolation or depression than heterosexual people.

Denver PrideFestopens a new window takes place this year June 16-17. The theme “Say It Loud, Say It Proud” is meant to encourage the younger generation to take up LGBT activism. This is a great opportunity to be mindful of the wide range of LGBTQ+ people in our community, and to share stories and experiences between different generations.
