LGBT Older Adult Resources

Did you know that among people over 50 years of age in the U.S., over 2.7 million of them identify as LGBT? As the country’s population ages, there is an increasing need for health care, social support and access to aging-related legal resources.

This is especially true for LGBT communities. People who identify as LGBT in Colorado report more mental and physical health issues, increased health-risk behaviors and higher rates of social isolation or depression than heterosexual people.

Denver PrideFest takes place this year June 16-17. The theme “Say It Loud, Say It Proud” is meant to encourage the younger generation to take up LGBT activism. This is a great opportunity to be mindful of the wide range of LGBT people in our community, and to share stories and experiences between different generations.
