Notary Services

Finding a notary can be a hassle, especially on a tight schedule or budget. Knowing where to look can save you time and money if you’re dealing with important documents or need a quick notarization.

Notary services typically cost $10-15 per signature, though prices will vary by individual notaries and will depend on whether the appointment is on-site, online, or mobile. Mobile services will come with additional travel fees, especially if you are requesting them to travel outside of their service area.

Listed below are locations where you can find free or paid notary services as well as important tips on what you need to do before you go.

Please note: Most notaries are not attorneys licensed to practice law. They cannot draft legal records, give legal advice or charge a fee for those services.

Important Tips Before You Go

  • Call ahead. Always call the location to confirm they have a commissioned notary on staff and to inquire about any fees or requirements.
  • Bring proper identification. You will need a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, to get your document notarized.
  • Don't sign the document yet. Do not sign the document before you meet the notary, as it often needs to be signed in their presence.
  • Bring the document. Make sure to bring the complete document you need notarized.
  • Have witnesses ready. If your document requires a witness (in addition to the notary), you'll need to arrange for them to be there as well.
