Geek Out Contest

2017 Geek Out ContestEmbrace your inner-geek! We’re inviting teens ages 11-18 to represent your favorite fandom (book, show, sport, etc.) in a creative way for a chance to win a cool prize. Write a story, draw a picture, cosplay, bake a cake or whatever you can dream up.

October 1-31: Submit your completed entry form online or download and submit it at any Arapahoe Libraries location beginning October 1-October 31 (by midnight).

Individuals and teams are invited to participate (winning teams will receive Denver Comic Con tickets). You are also welcome to submit multiple entries; participants are only eligible to win one award.

Thursday, November 9: Winners will be notified

This year's prizes include: 

  • One Nintendo Switch Console
  • One iPad Mini 
  • One two-pack of three-day passes to 2018 Denver Comic Con
  • Five individual 2018 Denver Comic Con tickets
  • One Nintendo 2DS XL
  • One Kindle Fire tablet

Need inspiration? 

Below are some suggestions to spark your creativity, but feel free to create anything you dream up! 

  • Fan fiction (poetry, written lyrics, etc.)
  • Fan art in any medium (digital, pencil, paint, sculptures, etc.)
  • Cosplay (dressing up like your favorite character)
  • Videos or short films
  • Songs
  • Decorated cakes or cookies

Want to work on your project? Have an idea but need the tools or materials to make it happen? Swing by the Makerspace at Castlewood Library to use a 3D printer, sewing machine, laser cutter and more! You can also record videos or music in one of the Studios at Smoky Hill or Southglenn Libraries.
