Marvel Playlist Part 2: What Would the Characters Listen To?

Ready for more Marvel music? If you haven't already, check out Marvel Playlist Part 1. These comic-based films have done an incredible job making characters leap off the page and bringing to life the personalities we envisioned. With over 23 movies and counting (with releases of mini-series on Disney+ of WandaVision and The Falcon and Winter Soldier) our love for the fictional storylines continues to grow.

Over the years we've seen these characters develop and change, and it made us wonder...do we know the characters well enough to guess what kind of music they listen to? Here's our compilation of albums/songs we think best fit the Marvel main characters.

Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers

Carol Danvers was breaking gender stereotypes from a young age and has continued to do so with some of the strongest superpowers in the galaxy. As a powerful leading lady, we thought rocking out to some 90s alternative tunes would be the most fitting for her.

The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails

Tragic Kingdom - No Doubt

Falcon/Captain America/Sam Wilson

Whether Sam Wilson is kicking butt in civilian life or taking on the role of Falcon and eventually Captain America, his taste in classic music is a constant. We get a little taste of what he loves when he's introduced to Steve Rogers and recommends "Trouble Man" by Marvin Gaye, opens a new window. We feel confident he'd jam out to motown and R&B.

Greatest Hits - Al Green

You're the Man - Marvin Gaye

Loki

This Nordic God of Mischief is an enigma of musical tastes. We see him as a trickster, sometimes a troublemaker, but also randomly helping others (when it benefits him). Since he doesn't always fit the mold of what we expect, what better to choose than some eclectic out-of-the-box artists. He is the "bad guy," right?!

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? - Billie Eilish

Blue Madonna - Børns

Hawkeye/Clint Barton

Barton can definitely find his way around a bow and arrow and is always willing to help when needed, but if he's honest, he'd rather be at home with his family and protecting them. So what are his musical tastes? When he's working—progressive rock. When he's home—relaxed and chill.

Platinum Collection - Genesis

Songs You Know by Heart - Jimmy Buffett

Starlord/Peter Quill

To Peter, music is what he knows and loves. Guardians of the Galaxy is set to the soundtrack of his mixed tapes, courtesy of his mother, and we all know that no one touches his Walkman. Lover of all things 70s and 80s, Peter has incredible taste in music.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars - David Bowie

All Over the World - Electric Light Orchestra

Antman/Scott Lang

What music would a skilled thief and loving dad listen to? Breaking the law is a part of his story and being on house arrest gave him a lot of time to practice his Rockband and karaoke skills. At the same time, we couldn't leave out his ability to relate to "Ants Marching" by Dave Matthews Band, opens a new window.

Under the Table and Dreaming - Dave Matthews Band

The Roadrunner Albums: 1985-1996 - Sepultura

War Machine/James Rhodes

Best friend of Tony Stark, "Rhodey" is the liaison between the military and Stark Industries...mostly to keep Iron Man out of trouble. We wouldn't be surprised if his musical tastes were similar to Tony's, such as classic rock. We can't forget that he's loyal to his friendship beyond measure, so it's fitting to say he'd love "Loyalty" by Kendrick Lamar too.

Queen: Greatest Hits - Queen

Bonfire - AC/DC

Nick Fury

Nick Fury is a character that not many people know much about. And we think he likes it that way. Since he started his career back in the 60s and helped Carol Danvers choose her name based on the Marvelettes, it's only fitting that he probably has a soft spot for 1960s girl groups. Only other choice for him is humming along to some James Bond theme music...Fury is technically a spy anyways.

Motown Queens

The World of James Bond: 20 Classics From Dr. No, Goldfinger, Moonraker and More

Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes

Bucky has lived one tough life. Similar to Captain America, he has been frozen in time and then brainwashed to work for Hydra. Does he even like music now? He does admit to liking 40s music and we know he is still dealing with some demons, hence our choices.

The Andrews Sisters

Night Visions - Imagine Dragons
