  • General Questions

    Yes! Each library offers WiFi, free of charge, for internet use on personal devices. The network name is "LibraryPublicWifi" and there is no password needed to connect.

    Try our outdoor WiFi hotspots, now available at all Arapahoe Libraries.

    Yes! Faxing and document/photo scanning are offered at every library free of charge. Learn more here, opens a new window.

  • Lending Machine

    1. Scan or enter your library card number and enter your PIN.
    2. Open the door to browse.
    3. Remove your selected items and close kiosk door. (Removing items and closing the door automatically checks items out.)
    4. Choose a print or emailed receipt.

    Yes, you can use your alternate ID to access the Lending Machine.

    Currently the Lending Machine instructions are only available in English.

    You will be notified via the notice preference you have set in your account, which could be email, text, phone or none. You can also manage your account and checked out items by logging into your online account.

    Holds cannot be picked up from Lending Machines.

    You can check out as many items as you like as long as it does not go over your checkout limit. Learn more about borrowing.

    Due dates are three weeks from checkout, and items will automatically renew up to three times if they are not on hold.

    You can return items to the Lending Machine by placing them on a shelf and closing the door. This automatically checks them back in. You may also return your items to any one of our eight library locations.

    The Lending Machine will only check in and check out Arapahoe Libraries items. Any items from Prospector or Interlibrary Loan should be returned to an Arapahoe Library location.

    There are currently three Lending Machine locations inside Glendale Municipal Building, opens a new window, The Trails Recreation Center, opens a new window. You are welcome to visit the Lending Machine at these locations, free of charge.

    If you would like to use The Trails Recreation Center services, there may be a charge. Please contact them for details and information.

    Our library locations, opens a new window are spread throughout Arapahoe County.

    Availability depends on the hours of operation of the businesses where Lending Machines are located.

    If it cannot fit neatly into the Lending Machine, please return to an Arapahoe Library location.

  • Holds Lockers

    When placing a hold on an item on our website, you can select a locker as your hold pickup location.

    If you have single-click holds set up for your online account, you will need to update your hold preferences to see the lockers as hold options. Contact us if you need help.

    We'll be sure to let you know with a notification (by email, text or phone) when your hold(s) is ready. Find out how to sign up for text alerts, or contact us for help changing your notification preference.

    You can also log in to your library account to check the status of your holds. Holds that are ready for pick up will display with a green "Ready" button.

    Once you've been notified that an item is ready for pickup from a locker, or have checked your online account to see that an item is ready, you can head to the library. Lockers are located near the front doors.

    Make sure to bring your library card—both your regular card and the keychain versions will work. The system cannot look you up by name, but you can type in your library card number.

    Once your card number and PIN have been entered, the screen will briefly show a list of titles that are ready for you and the correct locker will open automatically. If you have items in more that one locker, a "NEXT" option will appear on the screen. Once you have removed all your items you will select "FINISH" to end your transaction.

    Items in lockers have already been checked out to you, so you're ready to enjoy your materials!

    The pick up period for the holds lockers is 7 days.

    You can also log in to your library account to check the status of your holds. Holds that are ready for pick up will display with a green "Ready" button.

    Holds lockers are available 24/7, so you can pick up items when it's convenient for you during your seven-day pickup window.

    Depending on the size of the items, three to six items fit in one locker. If your items do not fit inside one locker, multiple lockers will be used.

    If you have items in more that one locker, a "NEXT" option will appear on the screen. Once you have retrieved all your items you will select "FINISH" to end your transaction.

    No, we do not accept returns in the lockers. Please use book drops for returns.

    Yes you can! You will need to update your hold preferences in your online account.

    If you have single-click holds set up for your online account, you will need to turn those off in order to see the lockers as hold options.

    We aren't able to guarantee a specific locker for picking up holds at this time. If you require further assistance, please use the option to pick up holds inside the library.

    At this time, it is not possible to pick up Prospector holds at the Holds Lockers. You may pick up Prospector items from the hold shelf inside the library.

    From the main screen of the lockers, you can select the option "English" to change the language to either Spanish or Russian.

    Receipts are not available when picking up holds from the lockers. If you'd like a check out receipt, please select a library location for pickup.

    Large items may not fit in the lockers. If an item is too large, staff will transfer the hold and you may pick it up from the hold shelf inside the library.

    It may take longer for your hold to become available since there is a limited number of lockers.

    If you need your hold(s) quickly, please select a library location for pickup.

    No, the lockers are not connected to the online catalog. You will need to use your library card number and PIN. You can scan your card or type in the number.

    You don't need your physical library card, but you will need your card number and PIN. You can type these in on the screen.

    No, the process for these items is different and they cannot be sent to the lockers. Once notified, you may pick up an Interlibrary Loan item from the hold shelf in the library.

  • Hours and Closures

  • Library Computers

    Computers are available for use in 30-minute time blocks during library open hours on a first-come, first-served basis. Time can be extended if no one is waiting to use a computer.

    You bet! You can use the Wireless Printing Service, opens a new window website to send a print job from a library computer, your laptop or any other personal device to a library printer.

    The Arapahoe Library District provides free access to internet computers for all ages. These computers comply with the internet safety requirements outlined in the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Colorado State Law on Internet Protection in Public Libraries (CRS 24-90-601 etc.).

    Please be aware that no filtering system is infallible and the Arapahoe Library District does not assume any responsibility for the accuracy of its internet filters.

    We are always willing to work in partnership with you to help guide your child in the safe use of the internet. Library staff can direct you to child-appropriate websites and help you find resources with tips for parents and children on how to surf the web safely. Please remember that ultimately, you are responsible for your child's use of the internet in the library.

    The software on computers available for public use includes:

  • Study and Meeting Room Reservations

    Study and meeting room reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance.

    The library and library staff will be unavailable after closing, but you will have access to your meeting room in addition to the restrooms.

    All meetings must end by 10 pm. The building will be secured at 10:15 pm and an alarm will sound after that time if the doors are opened.

    Library staff are not available after the library closes. For after-hours reservations, users should plan to be self-sufficient. After-hours reservations must begin at least 30 minutes prior to the library closing, so, you should plan to use that time to set up the room and ask any questions of staff.

  • Digital Media Stations

    A Digital Media Station, opens a new window is a space with equipment for you to convert your old media to a digital format or create new digital media.

    • VHS tapes → DVD or digital file
    • 8mm/Super 8 film → digital file (MP4)
    • Vinyl records (33, 45, or 78 rpm) → CD or digital file
    • 8mm, Hi8 and Digital8 camcorder tapes → DVD or digital file
    • VHS-C tapes → DVD or digital file
    • Audio cassette tapes → CD or digital file
    • 35mm slides → digital file
    • Negatives → digital file
    • Old photos → digital file

    Some equipment can work with different media if you bring your own player. Discuss your project with a librarian, opens a new window to find out.

    If we can't help you digitize the format you have, we can help you find someone in the area who can.

    If you'll be converting media, bring your old media and something to store the digital files on. A flash drive of 16 GB should suffice for most projects.

    If you're bringing CDs and DVDs, bring a few more than you think you'll need just in case. If you subscribe to Cloud storage, this is also an option.

    Digital Media Station computers offer Adobe Creative Cloud, VLC Media Player, iTunes, Audacity, Roxio Easy CD & DVD Burning, Handbrake, Adobe Acrobat DC, EZ Vinyl Tape Converter,ElGato Video Capture, Epson Scan.

    Audio and film media convert in real time. For instance, if your VHS tape is 90 minutes long, it will take 90 minutes to digitize.

    Slides, negatives and photos take roughly one minute per image to digitize, but this estimate can vary widely based on your settings. 

    For 8mm and Super 8 films the digitization time varies depending on the length of the reel. A 3-minute film reel takes approximately 20 minutes to digitize. A seven inch full reel of film can take between 3–4 hours to digitize. Ask a librarian about options when digitizing seven inch reels.
